Our Story... So Far
An immigrant’s ambition
Our founder, John Meyer, landed at Ellis Island with his family of four and $78 to his name. After escaping a work camp in Nazi Germany and joining the Dutch resistance, John’s life journey led him to opening a sign shop not long after settling in Washington’s Skagit Valley.
A trusted marketing resource
As the Pacific Northwest has grown, Meyer Sign & Advertising has kept pace with the need of local businesses to communicate their brands through the most cost-effective marketing tool available: great signage.
Growing our capabilities
Starting with hand painted signs in its early days, Meyer Sign & Advertising has continually invested in the tools, technologies, and talents needed to offer our customers a variety of signage options that enhance their brands.
Our reputation for quality and reliability may have been earned locally, but it has extended to the headquarters of corporate clients throughout the country. Our national clients include Chevrolet, Jack In the Box, Wells Fargo, Texaco, and Wal-Mart...to name a few.
A part of local history
Meyer Sign & Advertising has been part of the community and business fabric of the Skagit Valley for more than half a century. Drive past our headquarters on Old Highway 99 in Mount Vernon and you’ll see a piece of regional history. Our building began its life as the Chevron exhibit at the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair!
A second generation takes charge
Years before his passing in 1999, John Meyer laid the foundation for his company’s future by selling it to his daughter, Tonnie, and her husband, Martin Boer — both of whom benefited from John’s tutelage even after his retirement.
State of the art
Throughout the years, Meyer Sign & Advertising has made significant capital investments in fabrication capabilities — the net effect of which have allowed us to maintain tighter process control while offering more leading-edge design options to local businesses.
Expanding our fleet
Over the years, Meyer Sign & Advertising has invested in a fleet of vehicles that safely and efficiently meet the demands of a wide range of installation and maintenance situations.
Installation and maintenance
We are proud to maintain a dedicated installation and maintenance team whose licenses and certifications range from boom operator to electrician, welder, and CPR training. Every project is unique…and our team handles them all with skill and professionalism.
The future looks bright
Sign technology has become ever more sophisticated in communicating a company’s brand. Thanks to LED displays, businesses can deliver a digital “call to action” in brightly animated graphics — one that can result in thousands of impressions a day of more than just a logo.
We’ll be here for you
In 2017, Meyer Sign transitioned to new ownership under long-time employee and general manager, Ken Hitt. We continue to nurture a skilled, competent, and dedicated team -- all the while preserving the culture of respect and appreciation for our customers and employees that began decades ago with John Meyer.
